Film and submit your idea, and you could win $1000, as well as a very satisfying 5 minutes of fame on event day–and help the BC Children’s Hospital at the same time.

As if this weren’t enough, the first 50 entrants to the contest will also receive a complimentary lululemon yoga mat, running hat, and foldin’ key cuff! Details on the site.

Global Agents for Change are asking you to get involved. So get your camera’s ready and tell us – What would you do to change the world? Create a short video of your own footage explaining an idea you’ve dreamed up or a real-life project you’ve taken on, which truly changes the world for the better. Be creative and original but most importantly inspire and be inspired!

There are two prizes to be won: $500 for the people’s choice and $500 for the judges choice to support a cause or organization of your choice. So here’s the chance to do something to change the world. What are you going to do?

Global Agents for Change have just started their second annual ‘Riding to Break the Cycle‘. The goal of the trip is to help build a youth managed microcredit fund, helping struggling developing world entrepreneurs with small trust based loans as they seek to build their families a better life. The trip kicked off in Vancouver on May 31 and will end in Tijuana, Mexico. The group will cover 3000 kilometers in 7 weeks. Check out their trip map to see if they are going to be going through your town and get out to support them in reaching their goal.

The contest has been live now for a couple of days and all ready we’ve received an amazing number of videos in with all sorts of hot tricks. So if you think you have what it takes to enter the contest, now is the time to do it. Good luck to everyone…can’t wait to see what you come up with.

We have refocused the homepage from the latest videos to more prominently showcase our active branded video contests. We currently have four video contests active – Gallery Furniture, Garden State Life, the Little Penguin, and our newest contest that we’ve just launched – Texas Instruments Vision for Voice. Check out the contests, take a look around, and let us know what you think about the changes.

The newest entry in the Gallery Furniture contest is working it. The crew from station 6 – some of Texas’ finest volunteer firefighters, are getting the word out about their video in a bid to refurbish their firehouse.  They have been featured on the Bravest Online, a site dedicated to firefighters and their causes. So get your voting on and give these burly firefighters some love. Check out Ron’s personal website for more info on what these guys do on the daily.

Mattress Mack, Texan icon, has just launched his newest contest looking for your best Mattress Mack commercial between 30-90 seconds long. The winner will be chilling out in their new home digs, watching their commercial air on their plasma big screen- theater style.

So if you are in the Houston area, send off those video’s and you could be the next “iMack”.

After an amazing year of working with people from Chevy and TransWorld, to Mont Tremblant, Tourism Ontario and Wells Fargo we have seen some of your best snowboarding tricks, heard you belt out some serious karaoke, and witnessed some fierce music video’s with your take on an old classic.

And now for 2008- This is going to be a massive year for memelabs and for filmmakers alike- with money and prizes a plenty to get your year started off. As always, we and will be getting you involved in the creative voice for big names, big brands, and big charities. We are going to be mingling with Greenwashing, home décor, old sayings…and tons more for you to get your hands and your cameras rolling. So whether you are a first time noob, or working to get yourself aligned with some favorable eyeballs, this is your chance to show up and show off!

Remember we’ve got two contests going here with two sets of prizes; the Grand Prize and the Viewers’ Choice Awards. The Grand Prize winner-chosen by a panel of judges from Wells Fargo and the Tournament of Roses- will be announced soon and the winning video will be edited into a commercial to be broadcast during the nationally televised coverage of the 2008 Rose Parade on January 1^st, 2008!

The Viewers’ Choice Award, for the eligible video with the highest number of votes, will win an Apple iPhone. Viewers’ Choice Runners-Up Awards will be given to the next (10) videos with highest number of votes which will each win a Flip Video camcorder!

New Filmmaker, Devin Dunn from South Africa is currently sitting in first place for IndieMV’s Art of Dying Music Video contest- and wants to keep it that way. With some stiff competition coming from Ruth Anne Rich in second place and GonzoFilmmaker in third place, Devin went through some of his production stills and sent them over to show us that to make a hot looking film- you don’t need a huge budget.

Grab a camera. We’re not expecting a 35 mm film here so keep it simple.

No Tripod? Use what you’ve got. Books stacked up can give you the height you’re looking for. Just don’t try doing a roaming shot.

Film 101- don’t overlook your lighting. Dunn created his own set up which ups the appearance of video’s production value.
