Only seven sleeps until Christmas, and what a fantastic year it’s been here at memelabs, both in terms of our own growth, and the wonderful clients we’ve worked with.

Memelabs expanded to include photo contests. Our first, with The Block, celebrated Vancouver’s Main Street neighbourhood. Cellular South followed, with a challenge to contestants to design their own netbook wallpaper.

2009 also saw the debut of memesuite, an agency toolkit with solutions for audio-visual delivery, contesting and client database management. Memesuite’s arsenal combines memelabs with memeserver, a robust professional video server, and minimeme, a turnkey contest solution with rapid deployment and client-friendly CMS.

We’ve had the privilege of working with some really amazing companies and organizations this year. While it’s hard to narrow them down, three contests stood out: The Gap’s Ultimate Happy Hour, Okanagan Spring’s Sponsor Me Spring, and Movember. We’re thrilled The Gap used memelabs to celebrate their 40th anniversary. Sponsor Me Spring’s provision of party supplies was an excellent means of brand engagement. And close to our hearts was our contest for Movember, a charity event that spreads awareness of male cancers under the belt — which challenged us to document moustache growth during November.

Thank you all for your sensational videos and hilarious comments this year.

The article covers the issues that companies face with advertising recall retention rates of traditional forms of online advertising and that web users prefer user generated video over video ads.
Memelabs gets some great coverage in this article. She profiles two of the contests that we are currently hosting – The Little Penguin ‘Pick-up Project‘ and GardenState Life ‘Expect the Unexpected‘. Go check it out, it’s a great read.

Mattress Mack has hit the news this week announcing the extention of the much talked about contest for Gallery Furniture. So far the video’s have been coming in at a great rate, showing tons of creativity, amazing impressions and some pretty slick camera work. Everyone at memelabs is pleased to have such enthusiastic participants, and creative submissions coming in – especially with some entrants vowing to donate some of the furniture should they win.
The contest is now open to submissions until March 15th, with voting open until April 1st. If you missed Mattress Mack on myFOXHouston, take a look at his interview here.
