The growth of online video marketing can be seen  particularly by the number of brands who have a YouTube channel. For  example, fifty-nine percent of U.S. companies in the Fortune Global 100  have YouTube channels compared with 52% in Europe, 35% in Asia-Pacific  and 33% in Latin America.</p>

<p>It began in 2007 when Curtis Jackson, the Queens-born rapper known to most as 50 Cent, took a major turn in his career by signing a deal with <a href="http://www.vitaminwater.com/" target="_blank">Vitamin Water</a>. As record sales dropped, critics claimed that Jackson was veering away from mainstream rap.</p>
<p>In an attempt to amp up his public persona, the deal with Vitamin Water made the rapper more appealing to the masses.  Fiddy was seen in a new light, well new <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lvd5gy1Xqps" target="_blank">hair actually</a>, (possibly NSFW, depending on your workplace&#8217;s policy on mild cursing and characters named &#8220;Pimpin&#8217; Curly&#8221;), as the funny guy behind of the hilarious YouTube commercials.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Only seven sleeps until Christmas, and what a fantastic year it&#8217;s been here at memelabs, both in terms of our own growth, and the wonderful clients we&#8217;ve worked with.</p>
<p>Memelabs expanded to include photo contests. Our first, with <a href="http://memelabs.com/theblock/" target="_blank">The Block</a>,  celebrated Vancouver&#8217;s Main Street neighbourhood. <a href="https://www.cellularsouth.com/" target="_blank">Cellular South</a> followed, with a challenge to contestants to <a href="http://memelabs.com/netbook/" target="_blank">design their own netbook wallpaper</a>.</p>
<p>2009 also saw the debut of <a href="http://memesuite.com" target="_blank">memesuite</a>, an agency toolkit with solutions for audio-visual delivery, contesting and client database management. Memesuite&#8217;s arsenal combines memelabs with memeserver, a robust professional video server, and minimeme, a turnkey contest solution with rapid deployment and client-friendly CMS.</p>
<p>We&#8217;ve had the privilege of working with some really amazing companies and organizations this year. While it&#8217;s hard to narrow them down, three contests stood out: The Gap&#8217;s <a href="http://memelabs.com/happyhour/" target="_blank">Ultimate Happy Hour</a>, Okanagan Spring&#8217;s <a href="http://sponsormespring.ca/osb/" target="_blank">Sponsor Me Spring</a>, and <a href="http://memelabs.com/movember/" target="_blank">Movember</a>. We&#8217;re thrilled The Gap used memelabs to celebrate their 40th anniversary. Sponsor Me Spring&#8217;s provision of party supplies was an excellent means of brand engagement. And close to our hearts was our contest for Movember, a charity event that spreads awareness of male cancers under the belt &#8212; which challenged us to document moustache growth during November.</p>

<p>Movember, the month formerly known as November, is the month when Mo&#8217; bros grow a &#8217;stache and, with the support of Mo Sistas, raise awareness and funds for men&#8217;s health issues such as prostate cancer.</p>

<p>Well, it&#8217;s halfway through the month and it&#8217;s time you showed off your progress in person! Join us at Dip Your Upper Lip and tell us about your man-scaping plans. Our wonderful friends at <a href="http://di6mond.com/" target="_blank">The Diamond</a> (6 Powell Street at the corner of Powell &amp; Carrall in Gastown) will conjure up cocktails and canapes from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, November 19th.  Plenty of inspiration and official Mo&#8217; swag will be circling. And Momositas, the men need your support. Come enjoy an extra frothy cocktail and dress that upper lip!</p>
<p>Not sure how to style your mo&#8217;? Event partner <a href="http://www.dermalogica.com/ca/" target="_blank">Dermalogica</a> will be on hand to provide &#8220;shave-mapping&#8221; consultations, mini-treatments, and other goodies.</p>
<p>Memelabs has been enlisted by the Movember Foundation to help raise awareness for the cause by hosting the global <a href="http://memelabs.com/movember/" target="_blank">Movember video contest</a>, which you can read more about in the <a href="http://communities.canada.com/vancouversun/print.aspx?postid=563868" target="_blank">Vancouver Sun</a>. It&#8217;s time to reinstate an under-appreciated facial accessory to its rightful position of glory. Accordingly, we&#8217;ll be floating around the room, cameras in hand, documenting your mo&#8217; progress and mo&#8217; stories.</p>

<p>If there&#8217;s one time of year when it&#8217;s acceptable to sport a flavour-saver, it&#8217;s Movember. This year, memelabs is proud to announce its partnership with the organizing body behind <a href="http://www.movember.com">Movember</a>, in a joint effort to raise funds for men&#8217;s health issues by launching a <strong>Mo inspired<a href="http://www.memelabs.com/movember"> video contest.</a></strong></p>
<p style="margin-top: 0px;margin-bottom: 0px">Just what is Movember? It&#8217;s an annual, month-long event centered around the growing of moustaches, to raise awareness and funds for male health concerns such as prostate and testicular cancers. Started by a group of young men in Australia in 1999, Movember has quickly snowballed into a worldwide moustache phenomenon.</p>
<p><strong>We want to see your mo-inspired videos.</strong> Here are some ideas to get those cameras rolling:</p>
